Playing out, active travel and community building can start on your own street.
Make it easy and safe for children to learn to cycle and scoot or simply enjoy playing in their own neighbourhood by setting up play street sessions. This pack provides the information and resources to help you get started, including the legal signage you need to close your street.
Two ‘Road Closed’ banner signs which can be positioned between and supported by two dustbins. These signs include eyelets and short bungee cords to secure them. They are flexible and easy to store away. Size of banners: 1050mm x 750mm. Class 1 reflective (compliant for road use). Road Closed banner signs like this are approved in some local authority areas, depending on local policy. (Some local authority areas however may require you to have the rigid ‘cone sign’ version of these instead).
One ‘Road Open to Play’ green engagement sign to promote the purpose and benefits of your play street. Size of sign: 600mm x 450mm. Green and white correx board (weatherproof). Can be secured to railings etc through the four corner holes. Please note – new design of sign (not shown) features child playing ball from wheelchair instead of child playing football.
