One of our proudest achievements ever for our team here at Brightwayz was the recognition we got at the Modeshift National Sustainable Travel Awards when we were named ‘Organisation of the Year’ in November in Leeds.

Two of our directors - Alison and Jacqui - were there to accept the award from Modeshift Chair Ross Butcher and enjoy all the celebrations of  achievements that evening.

The National Sustainable Travel Awards are organised each year by Modeshift - the UK’s professional body for those working in the sustainable travel sector. Participants and members include a wide range of people and organisations who work tirelessly to promote and enable more sustainable travel options for everyday journeys.

Why are these awards important? It’s not just to give Jacqui and Alison a chance to go up on stage and try not to be overwhelmed with the attention or embarrass themselves by tripping over the steps (actually we love the attention and good wishes that came with it… and managed to stay upright and dignified!).

It is also a chance to see what other organisations in the sector have been doing and their plans for the future.

For example Living Streets charity are able to showcase their plans for National Walk to School Week activities.

Bikeability who manage the national government-funded cycle training scheme in schools can show their amazing highlights and ambitions for the year ahead.

Active Travel England are the government organisation overseeing the promotion of and investment in active travel across the country (outside London). The conference and awards provides a good opportunity for those of us in the sector to meet and hear from representatives from their team what the plans and priorities are for the future.

Many local authorities across the UK are represented there too - including many of our long-time and newer customers -  and highlighting the successes of their teams provides inspiration and motivation for others.

And why did we get this award? 2024 was the year we celebrated 20 years of Brightwayz. In that time we have supplied hundreds of thousands of products to promote active travel or road safety to support campaigns across the country. All our profits are ploughed back and along with the partnerships and funders we have worked with have enabled us to run face to face active travel projects in our local area that have reached thousands of children and adults. We have even greater plans for the future.

Thank you to all involved with the Modeshift National Sustainable Travel Awards for our recognition!
