Screen Free Sunday

Phones away and screen free! Those are the rule at Analogue Afternoons run by our friend Polly. Instead it’s out with the board games, art materials, ribbon creations and cycle repairs.

The downside of ‘no digital devices’ and being screen free is we can’t take lots of nice pics on our phones to show the gorgeous setting of the Green Patch community garden, the striking sunflowers, the bustling chickens and all the people enjoying the digital-free ‘Analogue Afternoon’.

However it’s the perfect chance to try out the ‘old technology’ of a Polaroid camera. Photos are taken with much more care and intention and it’s exciting to see the images gradually appear.

Learn to fix your bike

This was the perfect ‘chill’ setting for our Cycling UK Big Bike Revival event. The slower pace and calm vibe was just what was needed for one to one ‘how to fix your bike’ sessions with our mechanic Wesley. No rush - just plenty of time to not only look at bikes problems and get them fixed but share ways to keep your own bike in good, safe condition.

Bikeability Motivation

Meanwhile in the background a group of three girls are playing about in bikes. One can cycle confidently and is whizzing around the leaflet area. The other two can’t cycle but both determined to learn and join their friend -

by the end of the afternoon we are so impressed they have both got their balance and can ride. (Their big incentive is their school is doing Bikeability soon and they don’t want to miss out).

Perfect Settings for Cycle Activities

If you are planning community cycle learn to fix events or repairs we totally recommend finding a community setting like this as a venue. Having other activities going on at the same time such as a screen free Analogue Afternoon is great. It brings more people along and provides the perfect atmosphere. I also bought a veg box whilst I was there - with the most delicious tomatoes!
